General Update
Update from President Paul.
  • Fundraising. We had a big week of fundraising this week.  The Bunnings BBQ raised $618.00 which we all agreed will be donated to the Queensland Flood appeal.  Great effort everyone. On Saturday we volunteered at the Geelong Beer Festival which was held at the racecourse.  About 16 members including Erik helped out on the gates handing out pamphlets and attaching wrist bands.  This event enabled us to add another $500 to our kitty to help build towards our major projects.  We all wore our Rotary gear  - so it doubled as a great promo for the club and Rotary as well.   (..and no..we didn't drink the profits!) Good job everyone!
  • Presidents meeting last week. Paul provided an update on the Presidents meeting:
    • PELS (previously PETS - Presidents elect transition seminar - I think that is what it is - someone can correct me) to be held in Ballarat 16-17 March - John McGibbon will attend this.
    • Our District Conference is in Maryborough 22-23 March
    • The District Assembly Sunday April 28th in Ararat.
    • The District Change Over is 26th May in Swan Hill
    • A Rotary Fundraiser for Anum Cara House - Thurs 16th May $175 per head. Anum Cara House is shifting to Deakin University where they will be increasing from 4 to 20 beds (For more details see Paul)
    • Headspace are having another fundraiser at Geelong Football Club 3rd May $150 per head
    • Lara Golf day 1st March.
    • Next presidents meeting is Thursday 9th May - Presidents elect are invited.

Rotary Grants Qualifying Seminar - Geelong Feb 2019
Lesley Goode attended the Geelong grants seminar last week. Once we have submitted the Memorandum of Understanding  we will qualify to apply for grants. Big thanks to Lesley for attending this year.
Lesley also mentioned that fundraising for the Rotary Foundation is down across the region - so we may want to think about what we could do to assist.

Science and Engineering Challenge.  Hold the date as we will need some volunteers to help out at this event at Deakin University 3-4 April.

What's this whoozin????
'whoozin'  is an app that enables us to collect RSVP's to events and meetings in a very easy accessible way. It provides a report for simple administration of these events.
Jordy will be sending you whoozin invites via email.
It is important to know that you have to reply to whoozin to be included in the catering numbers for the meeting or event being advertised.  You are not automatically counted in - you have to reply.  Please respond to whoozin invites as quickly as possible and no later than the Tuesday before the event.  If you do not have access to email - please respond to Rice Village in the usual way.  If you have any questions about whoozin please discuss with Jordy or Cookie.

Meeting Attendance.
If you are unable to access 'whoozin' please remember to inform  RICE VILLAGE  by Tuesday prior to the meeting if not attending to stop food waste and the unnecessary effort our  volunteers. Check blue book for the number or use the app!
