Guess What?
A couple of weeks ago, we worked for 3-4 hours helping out at the Grovedale Primary School Fair.  We sold heaps of snags and helped them raise money for special projects.  Our efforts were really appreciated by the school community. Well done everyone!

RYLA 2018
 
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is a six-day Leadership and Personal Development seminar for young adults aged between 18-25 who are nominated and sponsored by their Local Rotary Club (within District 9780 (South West Victoria and South East Australia) to attend.
The seminar covers topics such as leadership, motivation, goal setting, value-based decision making, confidence, self-esteem, community contribution and resilience. The young adults attending RYLA have frequently described it as "life-changing" and way beyond expectations'
Details:
April 8 -13th 2018 at "Kangaroobie" near Princetown in the Otway Ranges.
Participants must between ages 18-25 years at the time of the seminar.
Applications must be in by 15th Dec 2017. (See John for details)

Friends of Rice Village Working Bee - Helpers Needed!!!!
 
Friends of Rice Village are seeking volunteers for a working bee to be held at Rice Village, Sunday 3rd December between 11am -3pm.  Let Don Lester know if you are able to help out.

ConocoPhillips Science Experience - Thankyou from Corey.
 
Looks like Corey really loved the Conocophillips Science Experience...makes it very rewarding for us when young people get so much out of these programs which we sponsor. In Corey's own words...
 
"Dear Mr McGibbon,
I am writing to thank you and others at the Grovedale Rotary Club for providing me [the opportunity] to participate in the ConocoPhillips Science Experience. It was an enriching science experience for me, motivating me to continue my studies of Science into VCE, and I also managed to make friends.  The attached document (see John McGibbon for an email copy) is the piece I wrote for our school newsletter on the Science Experience. So if you are interested in what the experience was like, you can read it.
Again a massive thank you, I really enjoyed the experience and I can't express enough gratitude. If possible, I hope you sponsor future students for the same program, as I believe it was an experience that anybody with an interest in science would benefit from.
