Wednesday 5 February 2020
Meeting Number 2010
At the Board Meeting it was decided that all the funds raised/donated to date to the bushfire appeals would be forwarded to RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service), with a plea that the funds be used in Victoria where possible. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussion over the last two weeks.
Discussion also took place at the Board Meeting about our meeting attendance. As from Wednesday 5 February 2020 if you do not notify Rice Village or reply to Whoozin by the Tuesday before our scheduled meeting there will be no guarantee of a meal being available. Please consider your situation - we need to tell the kitchen of any absences.
Please consider whether you can attend the 50th Birthday celebrations for East Geelong Club, to be held on Sunday 23 February. Can we get a table together?
The other event to remember is the District Conference in Swan Hill from Friday 20 March to Sunday 22 March. Please talk about it with your partners and organize your accommodation ASAP if you intend going!
How does this affect us?

Please contact Gary Clark if you can help - we need volunteers to help

Everyone has been saddened by the devastating bushfires that have engulfed so much of Victoria and New South Wales, There have been so many stories of brave efforts by volunteers and residents to control these infernos, which have claimed the lives of many people and destroyed homes and businesses.
If you are looking to donate to help those suffering, it is important to make sure that your donation is well directed. Details of Funds which are assisting those affected are:
1. Rotary District 9820 Disaster Relief Fund. The fund has already committed $10K to the East Gippsland Fire Aid Committee, and will continue to donate funds to where they are most effective. BSB 633000 Account 137927174. Please email Janne Speirs when you donate:
2. East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid Committee. This is an account of the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale with the funds controlled by the East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid Committee. BSB 633000. Account 165960451. Please send an email to: when you donate.
3. Rotary Australia World Community Service National Fire Appeal. Project 68-2019-20. Go to to donate.
4. Wildlife Victoria. The best way to help wildlife is to make a donation to their bushfire appeal which will be distributed to fire affected wildlife shelters over the coming weeks and months. Go to to donate.
The Club has been invited to sponsor a Year 11 student to attend the Rotary Adventure in Citizenship program in Canberra in May 2020.
This program is organized by the Rotary Clubs of Canberra and Woden. The aim is to give students an in-depth understanding of Australia's Parliamentary democracy and what it means to be an Australian citizen. A large part of the program is held in Parliament House and involves Members of Parliament and Senators, as well as opportunities to go places, engage in activities and meet people not normally available to visitors to Canberra.
For more information:
Entries will close mid February. If you know of any interested students please contact our Youth Director - Jordan Bryson
This is to be held in Swan Hill from Friday 20 March to Sunday 22 March. There is an exciting program - visits to the Swan Hill Folk Museum and the light show, conference learning sessions, Saturday night dinner at Lake Boga and final discussions on the Sunday. It would be great to have some representation from Grovedale Waurn Ponds. Please give it some thought!  Click to register.
