  Wednesday 18 December
Meeting Number 2005

Last Wednesday's BBQ at Opal Aged Care for the official opening of the raised garden beds was well attended and enjoyed by everyone. A special thank you to those partners who attended and helped with the planting of the garden beds with herbs and sensory plants. Apparently the project was so successful there is another one in the pipeline for next year!

A copy of the roster for the nursing home visits on Wednesday 18 December will be sent out via email to everyone again. Please let Jan know if you did not receive a copy or are not available. Christmas costuming would be very welcome.

The meal next Wednesday night is open to all members, their family and friends. On this occasion we say thank you to the Friends of Rice Village for their assistance over the last twelve months. The cost will be $20 per head for members and partners. Please contact Rice Village or reply to Whoozin with numbers before Tuesday night to allow for catering to be finalized.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Rhonda and Paul. At this stage we have no further information about Rhonda's health. We know that their children and family on both sides are with Paul. We wish them both all the best.

The first meeting for 2020 will be an informal BBQ in the courtyard at Rice Village on Wednesday 8 January, starting at 6 pm. Sausages, hamburgers and salads provided by our friends in the kitchen. Partners welcome! Please notify the Club with numbers.

A combined meeting with Torquay is to be held at Curlewis Mini Golf, Portarlington Road, Curlewis on Monday 13 January starting at 5.30 pm. This will be followed by dinner. These meetings are always a time for great fellowship. Please note the date in your diary and plan to attend.

This will be the last Bulletin for 2019. So.....

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!
ENJOY A SAFE AND FUN TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

CHRISTMAS NEWS FROM DG ROSANNE
A number of issues are mentioned in the latest Newsletter:

"December is Family Month in the Rotary calendar.  In the lead up to Christmas and the festive season we are all busy making plans, buying gifts and stocking up to connect with our families and our friends over the holiday period. It is an important time to think about our Rotary family also."
How can we make Grovedale Waurn Ponds Rotary more family friendly?

Rosanne also mentions that there has been no relief from drought and fire. She asks that we give generously to those who are struggling or have lost family, friends or property.

There are other requests for help with other projects - Purple House Truck ( a dialysis truck which travels to remote Central Australian communities). Blaze Aid, drought relief for farmers, and other Rotary programs.

Mention there too of the Australian Rotary Golfing Tournament to be held at 13th Beach Golf Course in April 2020. Anyone interested?
