Auction Night - Wow!

All that work and it's all over.  What great night. Everyone had a really fantastic time.  Still counting,  but looks like we have raised approximately $16,000 which will go  long way to supporting our projects in the coming year. Big thanks to Rhonda and Paul for all of their hard work pulling this event together.  Great job!  To all who helped out, sourced donations and pitched in to help with what ever needed doing - a big thanks to all of you.  Special thanks to all of the businesses who generously donated items to us - without this support we would not be able to achieve the things we do. So thank you so much. We will keep everyone up to date on our projects via our new Facebook page - Grovedale - Waurn Ponds Rotary Hand Up Project.  I am so proud to be a part of this club. What a great achievment!

What a successful weekend!
Auction, then House of Angles fundraising night, then Working Bee in East Geelong and a BBQ Villawood Estate raising $800 Phew! How good is that!
Thank you to David C, Paul DB and Paul for doing the BBQ - Great effort in serving up over 500 snags and raising nearly $800 for the club  - Well done gentlemen and thanks for all your hard work.
Thank you to Bill, Ineke, Lesley,Kim, Peter DB, Christine, Leon (and Cookie - editors note) for the three hours we put in at the working bee on Sunday morning in East Geelong. Very much apprecited, and the home owners Rob and Maureen were very happy and really appreciated all the hard work we put in. Well done all, and I hope you enjoyed the coffee at Panache Waterfront afterwards.

District Grants Qualifying Seminars

Cheryle Marriner attended the District Grant Qualifying Seminar in Ballarat - Sunday 22 Oct.
The process for applying for a Global or District grant is similar to previous years. There is however, a new requirement to undertake a 'survey' of the community's needs as part of the application process.  The survey can be done by a local Rotary Club close to the project or by visiting the community and conducting the survey prior to applying for the grant.
469K was contributed to the Rotary Foundation last Financial Year by District 9780 (Our District). There are two main types of Grants which we can have access to:
1.  Global Grants - Minimum Grant $US15K and Maximum Grant $US200K
2. District Grants - Maximum Grants $AUS3,000 per year.
  • Applications must be in by March as they close on 15th April
  • Applications are reviewed and approved in Jun
  • The funding is sent from the U.S. in July to the Districts
  • Payment to the clubs is made by reimbursement only.
  • For further information Brian Humphries is able to help out.
  • Projects must be sustainable and have an exit strategy
  • Projects must be connected to a local Rotary Group and have active Rotarian involvement at the local end.
  • An MOA must be signed by the President and President Elect - these will be sent out to Clubs in District 9780 shortly.
We will be qualified to access Grants  - For more information see Cheryle
