Greetings everyone, no guest speaker this week so Don Shanghaied Bob and Perko to give a short reminisce about their long (38year) association with this club as Foundation members. They gave us a short and interesting talk about their time and some of the early days. Joe Cordone is the next most senior followed by Donald Lester who isn’t a Foundation member because he was travelling round Australia.
Patrick (Sandy) and I attended the opening (re-opening?)of the Racecourse Hotel bar which was mentioned in the Addy Monday with a photo.
The Priest did a sterling job of blessing the place and us before we all charged eagerly forward to slake our thirsts. You may be interested to know that big as the Good Book is there has been no provision made specifically for the blessing of a bar, a truly sad omission. As a wee child in the fifties I can remember occasionally sitting in the car with mum on Sunday afternoon outside this establishment while Jackie and his mates, in their roles of bona-fide travellers, lined the purses of the ladies Rice.
Congratulations to Bernadette and her team on a fantastic job.
